This annotated collection of resources aims to support French language teachers in growing their own competence and fluency related to non-binary identities and language. It is the result of a collaboration with the participants in the UBC Institut de Français in Quebec in July of 2023. Categories include French-language resources about LGBTQ+ concepts and vocabulary, linguistic strategies, multimodal resources, texts using gender-neutral language, inclusive classroom practices and materials, and academic work.

A Student’s Guide to Queer and Non-Binary French
These resources have been assembled by Julia Spiegelman (julia.spiegelman@umb.edu), as part of the Non-Binary Language Alliance community project. They aim to provide a starting point for students wishing to express non-binary and other LGBTQIA+ identities in French and Spanish. It is necessarily incomplete, given that the language is infinite and constantly evolving.
